Raku Making in July and Firing in August

This making and firing workshop will enable you to start with the basic skills of Raku in the outside kiln.

You are able to make 1-3 Raku clay pieces with specialist raku clay on the first date. (Up to 4lbs of clay per person.) Maximum Height and width of pieces will be given as the Raku kiln is smaller than the electric kilns. This needs to be bisque fired before the raku firing. 

You will be guided through the process of decorating with raku glazes and firing in the kiln with your tutors Joy and Jack on the second date.  With expert tuition you will be given demonstrations and careful explanations of the different stages of decoration, firing, cooling and quenching.

The experience runs for 3 hours approx and is  outside.
