3 Day Throwing Workshop 8/9/10th April (mixed ability)
This 3 day workshop will enable you to take the next step with your throwing skills to take it up a level or maybe you have 'had a go' on the wheel before, maybe you've got a wheel at home and want to take your pots from low centered bowl to a mug, jug or lidded vessel or you could be a complete beginner.
You will spend the 3 days developing the process of throwing on an electric potter’s wheel your tutor Joy Gibbs Price. Joy has taught ceramics for 28 years and is a practicing potter. With expert tuition you will be given demonstrations and careful explanations of the different stages of making: clay preparation, wedging, centering, opening out. After mastering centering you will be helped to gain height with your pulling up. You will also learn how to refine your pots with trimming, adding handles and decoration.
The experience runs for 5 hours every day 10am - 3pm with an hour break for lunch. Lunch can be pre ordered from the cafe or you can bring your own. Tea, coffee and biscuits/cake are included whenever you need a break.
The three days will be split into clay preparation, throwing, refining and decoration and at the end of the 3 days you will select your favourite pieces (maximum of 8) which I will then glaze fire for you in a transparent stoneware glaze. Please allow up to four weeks after your experience for the collection of finished pieces.
Cancellations up to 14 days before event - refund will be given.
